Air Bags: Dual-stage frontal driver and front passenger, includes Passenger Sensing system (Click here for important details)

Frontal air bags help protect the driver and right-front passenger in certain collisions by supplementing the protection provided by safety belts. Dual-stage frontal air bags utilize sensors to help detect the severity of a crash, then determines if the air bags should be deployed and whether a full or less-than-full amount of inflation is to be used. In less severe crashes or when the seats are in the full-forward position, the air bags will deploy at less than full level. The Passenger Sensing System automatically switches the right-front passenger frontal air bag on or off based on the passenger's weight and the type of pressure on the seat. Even with these innovative features, you should always wear your safety belt and be sure children are properly restrained in the rear seat.

Always use safety belts and the correct child restraint for your child's age and size. Even in vehicles equipped with Passenger Sensing System, children are safer when properly secured in a rear seat in the appropriate infant, child or booster seat. Never place a rear-facing infant restraint in the front seat of any vehicle equipped with an active frontal air bag. See the vehicle Owner's Manual and child safety seat instructions for more information.

Air Bags: Driver and right-front passenger thorax, seat-mounted side-impact, and head curtain side for front and rear outboard seating positions (Click here for important details)

Front seat-mounted side-impact thorax air bags for the driver and front passenger, are designed to help protect an adult's chest in a serious side-impact crash. Head curtain side air bags, mounted to the roof rails, are designed to help reduce the risk of head and neck injuries to front and rear outboard occupants on the near side of certain side-impact collisions.

Battery: Maintenance-free with rundown protection.

A feature that remembers when you don't. Battery-rundown protection automatically shuts off interior lights after the vehicle has been sitting with the engine off for a preset amount of time.

Brakes: four-wheel disc antilock.

The antilock brake system (ABS) is designed to help drivers maintain steering control by reducing wheel lockup during hard braking on most slippery or dry surfaces.

Theft-deterrent alarm system: Content theft alarm.
Theft-Deterrent System: Vehicle, PASS-Key III Plus.

As an added security feature, the new Malibu has the PASS-Key III Plus theft-deterrent system, which includes a special ignition key with up to three trillion possible code variations. If any attempt is made to start your vehicle without the properly coded key, the starter and fuel injectors are temporarily disabled.

Tire Pressure Monitor System (Click here for important details)

The Tire Pressure Monitor System senses if a tire is losing air pressure and notifies the driver with a message in the Driver Information Center indicating when a tire is low.

Tire pressure monitoring does not apply to spare tire.
