Air bags help protect the driver and right-front passenger in certain collisions by supplementing the protection provided by safety belts. Dual-stage frontal air bags utilize sensors to help detect the severity of impact and where the seats are. In less severe crashes or when the seats are in the full-forward position, the air bags will deploy at less than full level. The Automatic Occupant Sensing System automatically switches the right-front passenger frontal air bag on or off based on the passenger's weight and the type of pressure on the seat. Even with this innovative feature, you should always wear your safety belt and be sure children are properly restrained in the rear seat.
Always use safety belts and correct child restraints, for your child's age and size. Even in vehicles equipped with air bags and the Automatic Occupant Sensing System, children are safer when properly secured in a rear seat. Never place a rear-facing infant restraint in the front seat of any vehicle equipped with an active frontal air bag. See the Owner's Manual and child safety seat instructions for more safety information.
Head-curtain side-impact air bags are designed to help reduce the risk of head injuries to first- and second-row outboard occupants on the near side of certain side-impact collisions.
Head curtain side air bags are designed to help reduce the risk of head and neck injuries to front and outboard rear seat occupants on the near side of a certain side-impact collisions. Always use safety belts and correct child restraints, for your child's age and size, even in vehicles equipped with air bags. Children are safer when properly secured in a rear seat. See the Owner's Manual and child safety seat instructions for more safety information.
A feature that remembers when you don't. Battery-rundown protection automatically shuts off interior lights after the vehicle has been sitting with the engine off for a preset amount of time.
The antilock brake system (ABS) is designed to help drivers maintain steering control by reducing wheel lockup during hard braking on most slippery or dry surfaces.
As an added security feature, this vehicle has the PASS-Key III plus theft-deterrent system, which includes a special ignition key with up to 3 trillion possible code variations. If any attempt is made to start your vehicle without the properly coded key, the starter and fuel injectors are temporarily disabled.
Traction Control reduces engine power and modulates the brakes to help reduce wheel slip during acceleration on many surfaces.
