    Overview:

    The 2012 Chevrolet Caprice PPV and Detective is equipped to protect and serve. We listened to feedback from police chiefs and officers, and equipped the rear-wheel-drive Caprice PPV accordingly.

    It comes standard with an efficient 3.6L V6 engine. For no additional charge you can select the optional 6.0L V8 engine, which delivers best-in-class top speed on the test track (154 mph).

    Best-in-class braking (60-0 mph) provides maximum stopping power. And its best-in-class interior features front seats that are specifically contoured to maximize comfort for long hours on the job.

    Claims based on 2012 model year information. The Chevrolet Caprice top speed and braking claims are based on results from the Michigan State Police Test conducted on September 17 and 20, 2011.

    Standard features include:

    • 3.6L V6 DOHC SIDI engine with FlexFuel1 capability
    • Engine run and engine idle hour meters shown in driver information display
    • 6-speed transmission and Rear Wheel Drive
    • Full-size sedan includes front cloth bucket seats sculptured for gun belts with high wear fabric and seat back security panel
    • Eight air bags2, now including knee airbags and Rollover Sensing System
    • Head curtain air bags for front seat only that allow a full-width prisoner partition
    • Main power supply, 110-amp under dash and 120-amp in the trunk with ground stud
    • Wiring provisions for ignition power, vehicle speed signal, and park enable signal
    • Speedometer certified to 160-mph, analog
    • Unmarked, detective version adds a center front console and full wheel covers
