Vortec 6.0L V8 SFI engine

Tahoe® Hybrid is the most fuel-efficient SUV in its class,1 with an EPA estimated MPG 20 city and 23 highway, thanks to its 6.0L V8 engine that produces 332 horsepower and 367 lb-ft of torque. Variable Valve Timing helps the engine produce near-peak levels of torque across a wide rpm range to give you both responsiveness in city driving and bold acceleration for passing and trailering. At low speeds and light loads, Tahoe Hybrid can reduce fuel consumption by shutting off the engine and operating on electric power alone. It also can run on engine power alone, or a combination of both gas and electric.

  • At highway speeds, Tahoe Hybrid uses  Active Fuel Management to automatically deactivate four of the eight cylinders.
