Vortec 6.0L V8 SFI with Variable Valve Timing

At the heart of the Silverado Hybrid is a 6.0L V8 Variable Valve Timing (VVT) engine that produces 332 hp and 367 lb-ft of torque. VVT helps the engine produce near-peak levels of torque across a wide RPM range to give you both responsiveness in city driving and bold acceleration for passing and trailering. At low speeds and light loads, Silverado Hybrid can reduce fuel consumption by shutting off the engine and operating on electric power alone. It also can run on engine power alone or a combination of both gas and electric. This engine is also backed by the 100,000-mile/5-year Powertrain Warranty.1

  • This technology offers an EPA estimated MPG 20 city
  • Silverado uses its 6.0L engine in either V4 or V8 operation - sometimes with an extra boost of electric power - as conditions warrant, and has an EPA estimated MPG 23 highway
  • Full V8 power is available for trailer towing, passing or pulling on long, steep grades
